GoHighLevel is a genuinely powerful all-in-one platform, and its entry tier is described, in its own words, as "Perfect for smaller businesses and solo marketers." Whether it fits you turns on two structural things owners rarely see from outside: the unit of sale is the sub-account, not your business, and the list price is a floor, not the bill: five core features bill by usage against a prepaid wallet.
What is GoHighLevel, and who is it built for?
It’s an all-in-one system (CRM, funnels, email, SMS, calendars, reviews, payments, and AI) sold in three published tiers plus an unpriced Enterprise. The whole ladder is built on sub-accounts, and the upper tiers are named for agencies ("Built for growing agencies," "SaaSPRENEURs & Agencies"), but the entry tier does address smaller businesses directly.

Enterprise carries no public price. The page only says "Speak with Our Enterprise Team."
What does GoHighLevel actually cost?
The plan price is the floor, not the bill. Starter is $97/mo, but the page marks five core features "*Usage based charges apply," drawing down a prepaid wallet.
Two Starter advantages worth naming: Unlimited Contacts and Unlimited Users are both included at $97 (most CRMs meter seats and contacts), and it’s month-to-month: "There are no long-term contracts, and you can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your account at any time." Email is genuinely cheap at $0.675 per 1,000 sends (HighLevel Pricing Guide, modified June 18, 2026).
The catch is the wallet. Per the FAQ: "Your subscription covers the platform features, but there are usage-based costs for telecommunications and AI services." That balance auto-recharges against the card on file when it drops below a minimum the six official pages never publish, so the non-$97 part of the bill can’t be budgeted ahead. The 14-day trial isn’t entirely free either: "Billing begins automatically at the end of any free trial unless canceled, and usage-based fees for telecommunications or third-party services may apply during the trial."
Why does the "sub-account" matter so much?
Because it’s the unit of sale, and a one-location owner has nothing to fill the rest of it. The FAQ states the $97-vs-$297 difference plainly: "The primary difference is the number of Sub-Accounts you can manage."
Starter includes three sub-accounts; Unlimited removes the cap. A sub-account is a managed business (an agency’s unit for running many clients), so a single-location owner pays for three and uses one. The honest, structural critique: not that GoHighLevel is unwelcoming, but that its pricing ladder is built around a unit a single business doesn’t consume. The same unit reappears in the add-ons, several priced per sub-account: AI Employee ($50/mo or $97/mo), the branded client portal ($49/mo), online listings ($30/mo), and SEO ($79/mo), all as of August 2026 (gohighlevel.com/pricing, verified August 21, 2026).
What will phone, texting, and AI actually cost?
Every message and minute is metered, and GoHighLevel’s own articles give the base rate three different ways (there is no single "the rate"):
- The LC Phone Pricing & Billing Guide (modified July 20, 2026) lists SMS at $0.00747 per segment and an outbound call at $0.0166/min.
- The A2P 10DLC fees article lists the same two as $0.0079 and $0.0180/min.
- The HighLevel Pricing Guide (modified June 18, 2026) gives a third framing: "Pricing for LC Phone System is precisely the same amount as Twilio."
The sources don’t reconcile; both numbers stand as published. What is consistent: a local number is $1.15/mo, a toll-free number $2.15/mo, "Calls are billed in full minutes, any partial minute rounds up," and "A fixed 5% markup is applied to these charges at the location (sub-account) level, regardless of whether your agency has re-billing enabled." A2P 10DLC registration and monthly campaign fees (a Standard campaign is $10.00/mo), plus a per-message carrier surcharge of $0.003–$0.005, apply on top and never appear on the pricing page. If an AI call forwards to a real person, that forwarded minute is $0.02/min.
AI adds its own meter. The $50/mo AI Employee Growth add-on includes 100 minutes of Voice AI; past that, "additional usage is automatically billed at pay-per-use rates (if overages are set). Access is not paused or interrupted." The $97/mo "Unlimited" add-on covers the AI but not the phone under it: "Phone System charges still apply to all phone calls regardless of plan." A single voice minute stacks Voice Engine ($0.045/min, effective May 20, 2026), text-to-speech from $0.015/min (OpenAI, Cartesia) to $0.170/min (ElevenLabs V3), LLM tokens across four models, and the telephony minute, so a call’s cost depends on configuration, not a sticker (AI Product Pricing, modified July 31, 2026).
Can a med spa or dental office use it?
Yes, with HIPAA, but read the terms first. HIPAA is a $297/mo add-on, it applies at the agency level, and it cannot be undone: "Once enabled, HIPAA is permanent for your agency and cannot be canceled, refunded, removed, or downgraded" (HIPAA Compliance with HighLevel, modified June 11, 2026).
It’s available from any tier — "Agencies on Any Plan ($97, $970, $297, $2970, $497, $4970) can subscribe to HIPAA compliance" — so the price doesn’t fall on a higher plan. It’s the most expensive clinic add-on, and the only one with no reverse gear.
What might one location actually pay per month?
A worked example, our own calculation on GoHighLevel’s published prices, not a quote, assumptions printed:
$97 (Starter) + $97 (AI Employee Unlimited) + $297 (HIPAA) + $1.15 (one local number) + $10.00 (A2P Standard monthly fee) = $502.15/mo. Without HIPAA, the same stack is $205.15/mo.
This uses the $97 AI tier (not the $50 one) and an A2P Standard campaign (not a $2.00/mo Sole Proprietor registration), and it excludes all per-message, per-minute, and per-token usage, billed on top against the wallet. Change any assumption and the number moves; the platform fee is knowable, the usage on top is not.
How does it compare to HubSpot, Salesforce, and the trade tools?
GoHighLevel sits between two kinds of software: horizontal CRMs and vertical trade tools. A map (all figures as of August 2026, verified August 21, 2026):
| Platform | Entry price | Sold by | Built for |
|---|---|---|---|
| GoHighLevel | $97/mo (Starter) | Sub-account + usage | All-in-one marketing/CRM |
| HubSpot | Free (2 users); Starter $7/mo/seat promo ($20 list) | Seat + contacts + usage | Horizontal CRM |
| Salesforce | Starter Suite $25/user/mo | Seat | Horizontal CRM |
| Jobber | From $29/mo | Seat | Home-service field ops |
| Housecall Pro | From $59/mo | Seat | Home-service field ops |
| ServiceTitan | Not published | Per technician | Home-service field ops |
| Boulevard | From $140/mo per location | Per location | Med spa / salon ops |
| Zenoti | Not published | Not published | Med spa / salon ops |
Entry prices above are the smallest plan, sometimes promotional or annual-prepaid: a starting point, not a like-for-like bundle. The horizontal CRMs put real automation in their upper tiers: HubSpot’s visual workflow builder is Professional-and-up ($800/mo, plus a required one-time $3,000 onboarding), and Salesforce’s Process Automation with Flows starts at its $100/user/mo Pro Suite, with phone and agentic AI only from the $175/user/mo Enterprise tier. The vertical tools go the other way, out of the box: Jobber, Housecall Pro, and ServiceTitan do dispatch, scheduling, and routing; Boulevard and Zenoti do room-and-provider scheduling and memberships. GoHighLevel’s published core features are a commercial layer, not an operational one: no field dispatch, route optimization, or clinical charting. If your bottleneck is dispatching a truck or filling a treatment room, a vertical tool may fit better; if it’s marketing, follow-up, and a shared inbox, GoHighLevel has more of that in one place.
So, is GoHighLevel right for you?
It’s a strong fit if you’re comfortable building and configuring, want marketing, CRM, and phone under one login, and value unlimited users and contacts month-to-month. It’s a harder fit if you want a flat, predictable bill, you’re a single location using one sub-account, you need HIPAA but might want out later, or you want the system to run without someone owning the configuration. (Neither the pricing page nor its FAQ mentions implementation, migration, or setup.)
None of this is a reason to avoid GoHighLevel. It’s a capable platform, plenty of businesses run well on it, and CadenSpark sometimes builds on it. The point: you’re buying sub-accounts, and the list price is a floor with a metered wallet on top.

Questions owners ask
Is GoHighLevel good for a business with one location?
It can work, but know what you’re buying: the entry tier includes three sub-accounts and a one-location business uses one, and five core features bill by usage on top of the $97/mo plan. If you want a flat, predictable bill, that structure fits awkwardly.
What does GoHighLevel really cost per month?
Starter lists at $97/mo (gohighlevel.com, as of August 2026), but that’s a floor. Phone, SMS, email, and AI are metered against a prepaid wallet whose minimum isn’t published, so the total depends on usage you can’t fully predict in advance.
Does the Unlimited AI plan include phone calls?
No. The $97/mo AI Employee Unlimited add-on covers the AI, but GoHighLevel states "Phone System charges still apply to all phone calls regardless of plan." Each AI-answered minute still pays telephony on top.
Can a med spa or dental office run HIPAA on GoHighLevel?
Yes, as a $297/mo add-on available on any tier, but it’s agency-level and permanent: "Once enabled, HIPAA is permanent for your agency and cannot be canceled, refunded, removed, or downgraded."
Is CadenSpark against GoHighLevel?
No. It’s a capable platform, and CadenSpark sometimes builds on it. The goal here is to help you decide with the pricing structure in the open, not to steer you off it.
